May, 2010, the “finding of the cross” that was done during the last evening of the camp, made a mark of the year’s camp. The kids were being blind folded and were tasked to find their way towards the cross. Some of the counselors were making some distractions along the way while the kids were looking for the right path. In the end, some of them weren’t able to reach their destination while some successfully reach it. Before the activity, the counselors asked for a thing that they treasured most and put it in a box. As they reach the “cross” the counselors burned the box, which the kids thought it contained their belongings. There were different reactions then. Some of them were so sad and disappointed, while the others just tried to accept that it’s time to let go of it. In the morning we slowly put out some of their belongings. They were surprised to find out that it wasn’t really burned.
It may be hard to let go, especially the things or people that you treasured the most but in following Christ one will soon discover that it is worth letting go for something greater is waiting ahead.
